We all know, or at least I hope you know, your business needs to be on social media. But which social media platforms your business needs to be on can still be a little unclear. However, it doesn’t need to be on every social media platform.
When you are choosing which social media platforms your business should be on, you need to consider three things.

Your business should be on facebook if:

You have a business (whether it’s an e-commerce website, brick and mortar or you are running a salon out of your home)

You are wanting to grow brand awareness; increase website traffic, sales, engagement, leads, or store visits

Your ideal customer is anyone who has access to Facebook
*Consider starting a Facebook Group to build a stronger relationship with your audience
Your business should be on Instagram if:

Your business has a Facebook page (there are some exceptions, for example a B2B company)

You are wanting to grow brand awareness; increase website traffic, sales, engagement, leads or store visits

Your ideal customers are between the ages of 18 and 49. Instagram’s main demographic is women between the ages of 18 and 29 and make $75K a year, but Instagram has a wide range of users.
Your business should be on twitter if:

You are a politician or in the media industry

You are wanting to generate leads and sales, increase brand awareness, build better customer service, or create a positive opinion

Your ideal clients are males between the ages of 18 and 29
Your business should be on pinterest if:

You have an e-commerce website

You are in the wedding, fitness, fashion or home improvement industries

You sell services such as social media management, financial consulting, or home organization

You have a blog

You are wanting to drive more traffic to your website, increase sales, or gain more leads

Your ideal customers make more than $75K per year or are females ages 30-49
Your business should be on Linkedin if:

Your business follows a B2B model or targets consumers based on job titles

You are a Fortune 500 company

You are wanting to position your business or company, offer credibility, expand your business contacts, or expand your companies network

Your ideal customers have a college degree and make anywhere between $75k a year to $100k+ a year
YouTube
Your business should be on youtube if:

You sell a product or service
-
You are wanting to grow your sales (76% of users are more likely to buy a product online after watching a video)

You are a small business wanting to set yourself apart from your competitors

Your ideal customers any age, any gender, any race
Snapchat
Your business should be on snapchat if:

Your company/ business has a marketing budget that allows it (Coca-Cola, Doritos, etc)

You are wanting to build brand awareness
-
Your ideal client is between the ages of 18 and 24
Tik Tok
Your business should be on tik tok if:

Your company/business has the marketing budget to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on influencer marketing

You want to promote your brand to Gen Z

Your ideal client is Gen Z
